Cuban Nailed for Insider Trading, Fights Back

NEW YORK (Reuters) Billionaire basketball team owner Mark Cuban responded to U.S. insider trading charges on Tuesday, saying on his website that he had not agreed to keep information about a proposed stock sale confidential.

The response, posted on Cuban's blogmaverick.com, disputes a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission charge that he acted on nonpublic information to avoid more than $750,000 in losses when he sold his stake in Canadian Internet search engine Mamma.com.

Phillies Win the World Series in Game 5

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Save the jokes, the taunts and all those insults about the losingest team in sports.

The Philadelphia Phillies just won themselves a World Series.

If that sounds strange, it was strange.

Nearly 50 hours after Game 5 started but was stopped by rain, Brad Lidge and the Phillies finished off the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 in a three-inning sprint Wednesday night.

Chronic Wasting Disease Found In Wyoming Moose

Cheyenne A three-year-old female moose has tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease in western Wyoming. CWD is a fatal neurological disease of deer, elk, and moose that affects the brain, causing weight loss, abnormal behavior, and, eventually, death. There is no evidence that CWD has any human-health implications.

“This finding was a very big surprise, said Wyoming Game and Fish Department Wildlife Disease Specialist Hank Edwards.”Number one, because this is the first CWD-positive moose we have ever found in Wyoming. And number two, because this moose was in an area that is a significant distance from any other known CWD areas.”

The Democrats 'No Energy' Energy Bill

Yesterday, the ranking member of the U.S. House of Representatives Natural Resources Committee, Don Young of Alaska (R), addressed the House on the Democrats’ proposed energy bill (see video below). Congressman Young said, 'The Democrat Leadership of this body has been asleep at the switch, and the result is an energy train wreck. Is anyone surprised we have record energy prices, record energy imports, and failing economy?'

Lance Armstrong: Cyclist, Philanthropist, and... Texas Governor??

Lance Armstrong recently held a press conference anouncing that he was coming out of retirement to ride in the 2009 Tour de France. This isn’t that big of a surprise, and I have already covered this issue-but now it seems that 7-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong may be eyeing a bid for Governor of the state of Texas in 2010.

NRA Warns Don't Believe Obama on Second Amendment

The presidential primary season is finally over, and it is now time for gun owners to take a careful look at just where apparent nominee Barack Obama stands on issues related to the Second Amendment. During the primaries, Obama tried to hide behind vague statements of support for “sportsmen” or unfounded claims of general support for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

But his real record, based on votes taken, political associations, and long standing positions, shows that Barack Obama is a serious threat to Second Amendment liberties.
